The Volkswagen Argentina SA is a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG and has offices in the cities of Córdoba and General Pacheco . The company employs around 7,000 people in total. The Volkswagen Group also has a Scania AB plant in Tucumán , where 649 employees manufacture trucks . Volkswagen has had production sites in Argentina since 1980. In 2010 a total of 135,600 vehicles were delivered. The Suran and Amarok models are manufactured , as well as engines and transmissions.

history

Both plants were opened by Volkswagen in 1980. For economic reasons, in 1987 the production was that of Ford in Argentina and Brazil in the car Latina - joint venture merged. When the economic situation improved significantly by 1995, Volkswagen re-established its plants and in the same year opened a new plant in General Pacheco and in 2001 a new plant in Córdoba.

With the Ferdinand Porsche Institute , the company has had its own chair at the National Technical University in Pacheco since 2011 .

From 2000 to 2012, the former Austrian Chancellor Viktor Klima was President of Volkswagen Argentina.
