The Volkswagen type 5Z6 (model names SpaceFox , Suran , SportVan and SpaceCross ) is a minivan based on the VW Fox that has been manufactured in the Brazilian VW plant in São José dos Pinhais since the beginning of 2006 . In fact, it is a variant of the Fox that is longer but not taller than the base model; one could therefore also speak of a station wagon . The three largest markets are Brazil (where it is called “SpaceFox”), Mexico (“SportVan”) and Argentina (“Suran”). It is also exported to other countries in Latin America and Africa . The car is equipped with 1.6-liter four-cylinder engines that develop 76 to 88 kW (104 to 120 hp).

An SUV variant is offered as the VW SpaceCross (or Suran Cross ).

The SpaceFox is not offered in Europe.
