Benjamin Schmid (born March 22, 1986 in Freilassing ) is a German bobsleigh driver .

Benjamin Schmid grew up in Bad Reichenhall . After visiting the Christophorusschule Berchtesgaden he acquired at the technical college Traunstein school diploma . In September 2011, he successfully completed his training as a police master at the winter sports school of the Federal Police in Bad Endorf.

Schmid was successful in alpine sports until 2003. When he reached the age of 18, his career in bobsleigh began as a pusher. Two years later there was a change to the steering cables. In 2009 Benjamin Schmid was able to achieve third place at the Junior World Championships in the two-man bobsleigh at Königssee. The pilot was particularly successful in the 2009/10 European Cup season. Two first places in the two-man bobsleigh (Winterberg and St. Moritz) and ultimately a second place in the overall ranking. Schmid and his team took fourth place in the four-man bobsleigh at the 2010 Junior World Championships and in the overall European Cup standings.

At the Junior World Championships 2012 in Innsbruck / Igls , Benjamin Schmid won the silver medal in the two-man bobsleigh with Marko Hübenbecker and the bronze medal in the four-man bobsleigh.
