Benzoyl fluoride is a chemical compound that formally represents the fluoride of benzoic acid . It was first described by Alexander Borodin in 1863 .
Extraction and presentation
Benzoyl fluoride can be obtained from benzoyl chloride or benzoic anhydride and potassium fluoride . Alternatively, it can be prepared from benzotrifluoride with high yield with niobium (V) oxide as a catalyst .
use
Benzoyl fluoride can be used as an ionic liquid , as a depolymerization reagent for silicones and as a synthesis base.
