Berau is a village on the East Timor island of Atauro .
geography
Berau is located in the southeast of the Sucos Macadade ( Atauro administrative office , Dili municipality ). The village is on a small bay on the Wetar Strait , which separates Atauro and Timor . On the other side of the waterway is the East Timorese capital, Dili .
Parts of the coast consist of limestone cliffs. North of Berau is the island's only source of fresh water. A river that only carries water in the rainy season crosses the town. To the north-west of the village lies the mountain Foho Berau at about 800 m .
Facilities
Berau has a pre-school with 21 students, a primary school with 140 students, a medical center and a secondary school. There is also a Catholic and a Protestant church in the village.
