Berchem (Antwerp)
Berchem is a district (district) in the southwest of Antwerp in the province of the same name Antwerp in Belgium .
geography
The district is bounded by the municipal districts Deurne , Borgerhout , Wilrijk , Antwerp and the urban area of Mortsel .
Berchem covers an area of 5.79 km² and has around 40,062 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2006).
Berchem is connected to the E 19 motorway and national and international train lines , and also has its own train station . Pieter Claesz was born in Berchem.
