Berg is a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Östergötland County and the historical province of Östergötland . The place is about 10 kilometers northwest of the city of Linköping in the municipality of the same name .

Berg lies on the western bank of the Roxen at the mouth of the Göta Canal in this lake. The place is best known for its locks ( Bergs slussar ). From Roxen, a seven-step lock staircase ( Carl-Johans-Schleusen ) leads up to the Berg marina . This is followed by two double locks. The Carl Johans locks are the longest staircase in the canal. From here the Göta Canal leads up to the Östgöta Plain and on towards Vättern . This part of the canal is the most visited. In Berg there is a well-developed infrastructure with a marina, a youth hostel and numerous cafes, restaurants and grocery stores.

At the mouth of the Göta Canal in the Roxen there is a popular bathing beach, which is visited in summer by the residents of the surrounding towns, especially from Linköping and Ljungsbro. There is also a mini golf course at the marina.

Immediately south of Berg are the ruins of Vreta Monastery , Sweden's oldest monastery, and the Vreta monastery church .
