Berit Glanz (* 1982 in Preetz ) is a German writer , translator , literary scholar and blogger .

Life

Berit Glanz studied in Munich , Stockholm and Reykjavík . Since 2010 she has been a research assistant at the Chair for Modern Scandinavian Literatures at the University of Greifswald with a research focus on media change. Glanz is working on a dissertation project on the subject of cultural production on the periphery. Processes of space semantization in Norway and Iceland in the 19th century . Writing activity

In July 2019, she published her debut novel Pixeltänzer with Verlag Schöffling . For the advance publication of parts of the novel, she was awarded the literature prize and the audience prize of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2017 . The novel met with a great response in the press and received positive reviews in many national newspapers. The novel combines two levels of action: One strand takes place in contemporary Berlin by Elisabeth, known as Beta, who works in start-ups . The other strand is about the expressionist mask designer and expression dancer Lavinia Schulz in the 1920s. Both strands are linked through an anonymous acquaintance, a Californian software developer from Hamburg with the pseudonym Toboggan. Beta gets to know him through an app that connects any user in order to wake each other up in the morning. The criticism pointed to the game with intertextual references, for example allusions to letter novels like Stifter and “elements of the reference and comment systems of the baroque novel” or to URLs, source codes , monkey tests and bugs .

On International Women's Day 2019, the Frankfurter Rundschau published a short documentary story by Berit Glanz about the Memmingen judicial scandal in connection with the abortion trials there.

Berit Glanz also works as a translator and has translated two works by the Norwegian playwright Liv Heløe into German. For the play meet me , the author and translator received the 2nd prize of the Baden-Württemberg Youth Theater Prize 2016.

Literary studies
