St. Antonius Hermit and St. Vitus (Oberweißbrunn)
The Roman Catholic branch church St. Antonius Eremit and St. Vitus is the village church of Oberweißbrunn , a district of Bischofsheim in the Lower Franconian district of Rhön-Grabfeld . The church is one of the architectural monuments of Bischofsheim and is registered under the number D-6-73-117-113 in the Bavarian list of monuments . Oberweißbrunn is part of the parish community "Am Kreuzberg ".
history
Oberweißbrunn is a branch of Bischofsheim. The previous building of today's church, which was built in 1738, was demolished. Today's church is a new building from 1961.
description
At 619 m above sea level, the church is the highest village church in Lower Franconia. It faces east and has a triangular, closed, level choir . The choir and nave are covered with a gable roof. The church tower with a pent roof is on the north side.
Furnishing
The high altar , the side altars and the pulpit are taken from the previous building. They were created in 1749 in the Rococo style . In the southern wall there is an inscription by the Würzburg bishop Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn with the year 1613. The organ is set up on the western gallery . Four bells with the tones g ′ - a ′ - c ″ - d ″ hang in the church tower.
