Berlin is a town in Rensselaer County in the US state of New York , about 32 km east of Albany .

The economy of Berlin essentially consists of a paper mill and a few farms where dairy farming is carried out. In addition, Berlin is a local recreational area for the residents of Albany, Troy and other cities.

geography

The highest point is Berlin Mountain , 859 m above sea level, near the Massachusetts border in the Taconic Mountains . The Taconic Mountains form a barrier in the eastern part of the city, so no road connects the city with Massachusetts.

The eastern city limits are also the Massachusetts border.

history

Berlin was not founded until 1806, although the Little Hoosic River valley , in which the community is located, had been settled since 1754.
