Bernöwe is a dwelling place of Oranienburger hamlet Schmachtenhagen in Oberhavel in the state of Brandenburg .

location

The living space is on the northern Oder-Havel Canal between Oranienburg and Liebenwalde in a wooded area. Neighboring settlements or places to live are (clockwise): Kreuzbruch , Zehlendorf , Schmachtenhagen , Malz , Dameswalde and Freienhagen . It is connected to the core city of Oranienburg by a bus line. The outlying location “Wittenberg” belongs to the district.

The Bernöwe settlement was first mentioned in 1350 in a document from the margraves Ludwig the Elder and Ludwig the Roman .
On July 25, 1952, as part of the dissolution of the Niederbarnim district , the previously independent community was incorporated into the city of Oranienburg as a district and, on April 1, 1974, incorporated into the Schmachtenhagen community . With the incorporation of Schmachtenhagen again into the city of Oranienburg, Bernöwe came back to Oranienburg on October 26, 2003, but this time as a place to live and at that time had a total of 216 registered residents (not counting weekend properties). In the period from 1950 to 1990, many parceled weekend plots were built parallel to Dorfstrasse and thus several new streets as well as the “Wittenburg” residential area outside.
