Bernard de Roos
Bernard de Roos (born August 9, 1957 in Amsterdam , Netherlands ) is the managing director of the sports marketing agency AIM Sport AG and was the general manager of the Arena Sportrechte und Marketing GmbH .
education
Bernard de Roos studied communication science at the Free University of Amsterdam and sports management at the University of Amsterdam . He received his doctorate there with his thesis “Sport & Markt”.
job and career
In 1978 Bernard de Roos became the head coach of the Dutch national sailing team. In 1984 he and his protégé Stephan van den Berg won the gold medal in sailing at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles . He then went to the National Olympic Committee of the Netherlands as director .
In 1988 he got into sports marketing, initially in Holland as a manager at the Top Sports Group. Two years later he moved to the marketing agency ISL Marketing (today: FIFA Marketing AG) in Switzerland . In 1991 Bernard de Roos joined TEAM Television Event And Media Marketing AG. There he markets the European national champions' cup and develops the UEFA Champions League from it .
In 1999 he founded the agency AIM International AG together with the Munich media entrepreneur Herbert Kloiber . Together they bought the television rights to the UEFA Champions League. Instead of the big channels RTL or Sat.1 , the premier class was now on Kloiber's former channel TM3 . His marketing agency is also responsible for sponsoring the rapidly expanding Dutch brewing giant Heineken . In 2005, de Roos took over Kloiber's AIM share.
Again caused a stir de Roos when he on 21 December 2005 on behalf of the Cologne cable operator Unity Media and its affiliate Arena sports rights and marketing GmbH in a spectacular bidding process the audiovisual exploitation rights to the Bundesliga in pay television from the 2006/2007 season were awarded . In the first months after the rights were granted, Bernard de Roos acted as spokesman and general representative of the Arena management.
Family and free time
Bernard de Roos married the author Irena de Roos during the Summer Olympics in Moscow . He lives on Lake Lucerne in the Swiss canton of Lucerne . In his free time he is said to be often found on the soccer field. In his youth he played in midfield at Ajax Amsterdam .
