Bernardino Molinari
Bernardino Molinari (born April 11, 1880 in Rome , † December 25, 1952 there ) was an Italian conductor.
Life
Molinari studied at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia with Remigio Renzi and Stanislao Falchi .
In 1912 he was appointed artistic director of the Orchestra di Teatro Augusteo (today: Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia ). In 1936 he was able to establish a position for training courses for orchestral conducting at the Accademia, which was converted into a professorship in 1939 with the support of Benito Mussolini . His students included Gianandrea Gavazzeni , Francesco Molinari-Pradelli , Antonio Pedrotti , Goffredo Petrassi and Renzo Rossellini . He remained at the Accademia as a university professor and orchestra leader until the liberation of Rome by the Allied troops in June 1944, but was then publicly challenged because of his ties to the fascist regime.
In 1945 Molinari left for Palestine , where he directed the Palestine Orchestra (today: Israel Philharmonic Orchestra ) and became its artistic advisor. His arrangement of the Israeli national anthem HaTikwa is the one that is usually played on official occasions.
