Bernardo Attolico (born January 17, 1880 in Canneto , Adelfia, † February 9, 1942 in Rome ) was an Italian diplomat .

Life

Attolico received his doctorate in law from the University of Rome in 1901 and then became a teacher of economics and finance at a college in Foggia . From 1915 to 1918 he was the representative of Italy in London at an inter-allied organization for the coordination of wartime economics. In 1919 he was an advisor at the peace treaty negotiations in Paris and was promoted to envoy and minister second class. He was High Commissioner in the Free City of Danzig (1920–1921), Italian Ambassador to Brazil (1928–1930), to the Soviet Union (1930–1935) in Germany (1935–1940) and envoy to the Holy See in Rome (1940–1940) 1942).
