Bernd Borchardt

Bernd Borchardt (born January 19, 1955 in Bottrop ) is a German diplomat . In the office of ambassador , he has been coordinator for international personnel policy in the Federal Foreign Office since 2010 .

Life

Bernd Borchardt studied psychology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster .

After joining the Foreign Service and a period of preparation for the higher service , Borchardt became Country Officer for the Nordic States in 1983. From 1986 to 1989 he was permanent representative at the embassy in Conakry, Guinea . This was followed by a brief assignment as a permanent representative in Mogadishu . At the embassy in Pretoria he was political attaché until 1992 . Until 1994 he moved to Tallinn as a permanent representative . Borchardt returned to Bonn as Deputy Head of Unit for Southeast Europe until 1998 , before becoming Deputy Head of the OSCE's Kosovo Verification Mission for a year . Until 2002 he went to the Romanian capital Bucharest as a permanent representative . From 2002 to 2006 he was employed as head of unit for EU external relations and as head of the unit for South Asia in the Federal Foreign Office. Until 2007 he was the deputy head of the Asia department before he was appointed ambassador to the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Tirana , Albania in 2007 . In 2010 he became Head of Unit 1-IP in the Foreign Office and, as such, coordinator for international personnel policy . In 2013/14 Bernd Borchardt headed the EU rule of law mission EULEX in Kosovo for almost two years. He then built up the International Academy of Nuremberg Principles in Nuremberg as a founding director . Since October 2016 he has headed the OSCE Presence in Albania.
