Bernd Grzeszick

Bernd Grzeszick (born December 23, 1965 in Erkelenz ) is a German lawyer and university professor .

Life

After graduating from the Cusanus-Gymnasium Erkelenz , Grzeszick studied law in Bonn , Freiburg and Heidelberg , where he passed the first state examination in 1992 . After a year as a research assistant at Thomas Würtenberger , he took up postgraduate studies at Cambridge University , which he completed in 1994 with a Master of Laws . During his subsequent thereto legal clerkship at the Regional Court of Berlin was Grzeszick at the University of Freiburg with a thesis in the area of constitutional law in 1995 to doctor of law doctorate. In 1996 he began work as a research assistant at Otto Depenheuer on where he in the winter semester 2001/2002 habilitation . In 2003 he was offered a professorship at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster , where he taught until 2004. Then he moved to a chair for public law , international law and legal philosophy at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, where he was also director of the institute for legal philosophy and general political theory. In 2009 he accepted a position at the University of Mainz . From there he moved to his alma mater in Heidelberg on April 1, 2010 , where he holds the chair for public law, international public law and legal philosophy and is director of the institute for constitutional law, constitutional theory and legal philosophy at Heidelberg University. He has been a full member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences since 2013 .
