Bernd Hennig

Bernd Hennig (born January 23, 1952 in Heilbronn ) is a German sculptor and object artist .

biography

Hennig was born in Heilbronn in 1952. After an offset printer apprenticeship from 1969 to 1972, he made up his technical college entrance qualification in order to study graphic design with Jürgen Brodwolf and Peter Jacobi at the University of Applied Sciences in Pforzheim from 1974 to 1978 , from 1978 to 1982 he also studied sculpture at the Karlsruhe Art Academy at Hiromi Akiyama and Otto Herbert Hajek .

Hennig has been working as a freelance sculptor since 1976. In 1977 he was awarded the forum for young art art prize , and in 1980 a scholarship from the Baden-Württemberg Art Foundation . From 1983 to 1990 he had a teaching position in drawing at the Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences, and since 1994 he has been a professor at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Dessau-Roßlau in the design department.

Hennig's main works are large-format sculptures made of steel and smaller objects made of various materials, including monotypes and other mixed media works on paper.

Hennig's works have been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions since 1977, particularly in south-west Germany. In Stuttgart and other places there are objects by Hennig as works of art in public space, including two objects that he created for the State Garden Show in Heilbronn and Freiburg im Breisgau in 1985 and 1986. Many of his works were bought for public collections, including for the gallery of the city of Stuttgart, the Enzkreis district office, the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science and Art and the Stuttgart and Karlsruhe regional councils.

Bernd Hennig is a member of the German Association of Artists . He lives in Birkenfeld near Pforzheim.
