Bernd Klimmer

Bernd Klimmer (born February 25, 1940 in Kaiserslautern ) is a German author, lecturer and painter.

Live and act

Before he started working as a painter, Klimmer devoted himself entirely to music. At the age of 16 he played modern jazz as a double bass player and guitarist and was later a trombonist for 40 years in the Volker Klimmer Band of his twin brother, Volker Klimmer . Klimmer ran a music school from 1975 to 2005, to which an art school was added in 1993. School operations ceased when they reached the age of 65.

Since 1983 he has devoted himself to watercolor painting and attended seminars by John Blockley in England and Bernhard Vogel in Salzburg . From 1989 to 1992 he completed a distance learning course in painting. At this time the first in-depth examination of acrylic painting took place .

Klimmer has been teaching as a lecturer since 2004. a. at the Bad Reichenhall Art Academy and in his studio in Morlautern in seminars on acrylic and watercolor techniques. He also organizes painting trips.

In 2005 he was awarded the Barbarossa seal in recognition of his special services in shaping the cultural life of the city of Kaiserslautern.

In 2015 Klimmer founded the publishing house Artbook24 and in the same year published the book Master Class Watercolor Painting by the Uruguayan watercolor painter Alvaro Castagnet. In 2017, through his publishing house, he published the book he wrote “Exciting techniques with watercolors, acrylic paints and more”, as well as the handbook for landscape painting “How do I paint what? Manual: Landscapes in Acryl ".

Klimmer lives and works in Kaiserslautern.

Awards

  • 2007: Art prize in the competition "City Views", the Internet gallery Artist Windows.
  • 2005: Barbarossa seal in recognition of his services to the promotion of culture in the city of Kaiserslautern.
