Bernd Schmelzer
Bernd Schmelzer (born July 23, 1965 in Dortmund ) is a German football and alpine sports commentator and journalist .
Career
After graduating from high school , Schmelzer studied journalism, political science and media law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . He completed a traineeship at the Augsburger Allgemeine and the Allgäuer Zeitung .
He has been working as a freelancer for Bayerischer Rundfunk since 1987, and has been a commentator for football , alpine sports and ice hockey for ARD since 1991 , including the sports show . Before live broadcasts, for example at international matches, reports from him on various topics relating to the game can be seen before kick-off. He has also produced short reports for the Tagesschau . After broadcasts and events, he also conducts interviews with the athletes.
