Bernd Zipper

Bernd Zipper (born August 23, 1967 in Düsseldorf ) is a strategy and technology consultant for mass customization and e-business print ( web-to-print ) and a German non-fiction author with publications in the field of printing technology and new media .

Life

Bernd Zipper worked as a DTP operator in a prepress company in the 1980s and then worked in the reprography area . He has been active as an author and journalist in the fields of print and (new) media since the 1990s and primarily deals with publishing topics. He dealt in particular with the file format " PDF " (Portable Document Format) , which was developed by Adobe Inc. and published in 1993. His nonfiction book PDF + Print 2.0 , published in 2001 by Deutsche Drucker Verlagsgesellschaft and in 2002 by dpunkt.verlag , has been translated into several other languages ​​and appeared in English (Seybold Publications, Essen 2001), Danish (Medit Publishing, Frederiksberg 2002) and Japanese (with: Hajime Satō).

Zipper also works as a technology and strategy consultant in the print and media sector. In 1994 he founded zipcon consulting GmbH , based in Essen , which offers corresponding consulting services for the printing and media industry. Zipper developed the drupa innovation parc (dip) exhibition concept for the drupa print media fair , which premiered at drupa 04 in 2004 and has since been an integral part of the 4-year trade fair in Düsseldorf .

At the end of the 1990s, Zipper defined the term and concept " Web-to-Print ", which was later used by the Bundesverband Druck und Medien e. V. (bvdm). Together with the bvdm, he organized various seminars, workshops and forums for the printing and media industry, such as the Web-to-Print Forum, which was held regularly from 2006 to 2009 . In 2007, ZIPCON Consulting published the market and product study, Web-to-Print Study 2007 , which was mainly developed by it, followed in 2009 by the updated and expanded study, Web-to-Print 09/10, published jointly with the bvdm . He is co-founder and board member of the Online Print e. V. , formerly an interest group to promote the free competition Web-to-Print e. V. Zipper has also been reporting as a journalist in the print & media industry since 2007 in his blog Beyond-Print.de ; on current topics and trends in the online print industry and related industries .

From 2008 to 2014, Zipper worked as a lecturer for the Print and Media Technology course at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal .

Together with the Bundesverband Druck und Medien e. V. (bvdm) and the Fogra Research Institute for Media Technologies eV (Fogra) initiated and founded the Online Print Symposium (OPS) in 2013 , the leading international event for the online print industry.
