Bernhard Heinrich von der Hude (clergyman, 1681)

Bernhard Heinrich von der Hude (born September 15, 1681 in Lübeck ; † November 3, 1750 ibid) was a German Evangelical Lutheran clergyman and chief pastor at St. Marien zu Lübeck.

He came from the extensive Bremen ministerial and merchant family von der Hude , a branch of which had been active as a tin caster in Lübeck since the 16th century, and was a son of H (e) inrich von der Hude and his wife Catharina, nee. Timmermann. After visiting the Katharineum in Lübeck , he studied Protestant theology from 1701 , first at the University of Jena , then from October 1703 at the University of Leipzig . In 1713 he was appointed preacher at St. Mary's Church after having passed his exams from superintendent Georg Heinrich Götze . On November 7, 1743, elected chief pastor to succeed the late Jacob von Melle , he was introduced to his office on November 10, 1743 by Superintendent Johann Gottlob Carpzov . His successor as preacher was Christoph Anton Erasmi .

Bernhard Heinrich von der Hude became the progenitor of a Lübeck pastor and senator family. He was married to Sophia, born on September 24, 1714. Balemann, a daughter of his colleague at St. Marien, the Archidiacon (2nd Pastor) Franziskus Balemann. Of the couple's children, Hinrich ( Bernhard Heinrich von der Hude (1731–1795)) was also a theologian and in 1775 chief pastor at St. Marien; he was followed in 1800 by the grandson Bernhard Heinrich von der Hude (clergyman, 1765) .

An epitaph was set for him in the Marienkirche, which contained a portrait painted by his brother Jürgen Matthias von der Hude and hung on the south side of the Marientiden chapel of the Marienkirche; it burned in 1942 during the air raid on Lübeck .
