Bernhard Hempel
Gustav Bernhard Hempel (born October 18, 1820 in Posterstein ; † May 14, 1882 in Dresden ) was a German architect who lived and worked in Dresden from 1850 to 1880. He is considered to be a representative of the Semper Nicolai School .
Life
Hempel was the son of a farmer and studied at the Dresden Art Academy with Hermann Nicolai .
He designed various Dresden buildings such as the concert hall in Lincke'schen Bad from 1853, Villa Bautzner Straße 86 from 1864/1865, Villa Wiener Straße 22 from 1869, the Grand Union Hotel on Bismarckplatz from 1871/1872 and built it together with Carl Adolph Canzler around the Jägerhof .
Hempel was married to Katharina Hempel geb. Emmerling.
