Bernhard Poschmann (born September 1, 1878 in Heinrikau, Braunsberg district , † June 16, 1955 in Münster / Westf. ) Was a Catholic priest and dogmatist .

Life

Bernhard Poschmann was born on September 1, 1878 in Heinrikau (today Henrykowo in Poland) near Orneta in East Prussia . He was the eldest son of the village carpenter Anton Poschmann and his wife Katharina, b. Liedigk, and had eight siblings. Thanks to the financial support of his uncle Johann Poschmann, he attended the humanistic grammar school in Braunsberg from 1893, which he graduated from in 1900. His studies at the Lyceum Hosianum zu Braunsberg ended with his ordination on January 31, 1904 in Frauenburg Cathedral . Doctorate in Breslau, in 1905 he joined the KDStV Winfridia (Breslau) Münster in the CV and completed his habilitation in Braunsberg in 1909. From 1927 he was a professor at the Silesian Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Breslau . In 1931/32 he was its rector . In 1945 he went to the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. He was an important preparer for the Second Vatican Council .
