Bernhard Röthlisberger

Bernhard Röthlisberger (born March 17, 1969 in Bettlach ) is a Swiss clarinetist and music teacher.

After graduating from high school, Röthlisberger studied with Thomas Friedli at the Conservatoire de musique de Genève , where he received his teaching diploma in 1990 and the soloist diploma in 1992. He continued his training with Antony Pay , Michel Arrignon and Ernesto Molinari . From 1993 to 2000 he was clarinetist and bass clarinetist with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra , then solo clarinetist and bass clarinetist with the Bern Symphony Orchestra .

As a soloist, Röthlisberger has performed with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra , the Festival Strings Lucerne , the Camerata St. Petersburg , the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and the Symphony Orchestra Bern and Lucerne under conductors such as Jonathan Nott , Reinhard Goebel , Mario Venzago and Vasily Petrenko . As a chamber musician, he has worked with the Amar Quartet and the Merel Quartet , with Esther Hoppe , Rafael Rosenfeld , Peter Somodari , Ivo Gass , Matthias Racz , Benjamin Engeli , Christian Chamorel and Philip Smith .

Röthlisberger teaches at the music academies in Zurich, Bern and Lucerne. He is the artistic director of the Hitzkirch Summer Academy and gives master classes all over Europe, including at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels , at the Royal Conservatory in Ghent , at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven, at the Gnessin Institute in Moscow and at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory .
