Bernhard Trittelvitz

Bernhard Trittelvitz (born July 22, 1878 in Wusterbarth ; † January 17, 1969 in Elversberg ) was a German doctor and writer . He wrote mostly Pomeranian homeland stories in Low German .

Life

Trittelvitz was born in 1878 as the son of a pastor in Wusterbarth in the Belgard district. In 1882 his father was transferred to Rappin on Rügen and the family moved. As a boy he first attended the village school in Rappin and also received private lessons from his father until he came to the Putbus pedagogy in 1892 . There he graduated from high school in 1899. He then studied medicine at the universities of Tübingen , Kiel and Marburg . He became a member of the Tübingen , Kiel and Marburger Wingolfs . In 1904 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. He then practiced as a doctor, first on Rügen and from 1907 in Saarland , where he received the title of medical councilor in 1908 . He lived in Elversberg, where he died in 1969. Before 1945 he wrote articles for the journal Courageous Christianity and published the books My Patients, the Saarkumpels and I (1934) and - on the situation of alcoholics - The Invisible Wound (1941). After 1945, at an advanced age, he became a prolific writer of poems and stories about Pomerania, mostly in Low German. Works by him have appeared both in West Germany and - at the Evangelische Verlagsanstalt Berlin - in the GDR. Trittelvitz was awarded the Pomeranian Culture Prize in 1964. His books are being reissued to the present day. His literary estate came to the Greifswald regional church archive in 2014 .
