Bernhard von Sanden the Younger

Bernhard von Sanden the Younger (born May 4, 1666 in Königsberg (Prussia) ; † January 22, 1721 ibid) was a German Lutheran theologian.

Life

Bernhard von Sanden the Younger was the son of Bernhard von Sanden the Elder . After initial training by private teachers and at the old town school, he began studying at the University of Königsberg in 1683 . In 1686 he moved to the University of Leipzig , where on January 27, 1687 he acquired the academic degree of a master's degree in philosophy. After traveling through Germany, Italy, Holland and England, he began to work as a private lecturer at the University of Königsberg . He was also given the opportunity to give lectures at the theological faculty. In 1695 he was appointed associate professor of theology and obtained a licentiate in theology in the same year .

On July 10, 1696 , he received his doctorate in theology and in 1699 became a full fourth professor of theology in Königsberg. In 1703 he rose to the third theological professorship and was associated with pastor at the Löbenicht Church . With the second professorship, which he had received in 1708, a preaching position at the Königsberg Cathedral was connected. As the successor to his father, he was appointed royal Prussian chief court preacher in 1709, with which the first theological professorship at the Königsberg University was connected. Von Sanden also took part in the organizational tasks of the Königsberg University and was rector of the Alma Mater in the winter semesters 1710/11, 1714/15 and 1718/19 .
