Bernward Willeke

Bernward Willeke OFM (born September 26, 1913 in Münster , † August 11, 1997 in Warendorf ) was a Franciscan priest .

Life

After graduating from high school , Heinrich Willeke joined the Franciscan Order in 1932, took the name Bernward and was ordained a priest in 1939. He then studied Sinology at Columbia University , where he received his doctorate in 1945 . From 1948 to 1950 he conducted research in Roman archives. From 1962 to 1982 he taught as a full professor of missiology at the University of Würzburg .
