Berolzheim Forest

The Berolzheim Forest is a contiguous forest area not far from the eponymous town of Markt Berolzheim in the Weissenburg-Gunzenhausen district in Central Franconia .

It is located in the Altmühltal Nature Park in the southeast of the Hahnenkamm , a ridge of the southern Franconian Jura . The forest is almost entirely in the area of ​​the market town of Markt Berolzheim; the border to the neighboring communities of Heidenheim , Meinheim and Treuchtlingen is partly nestled around the forest, partly it also runs through the forest. The highest elevation in the forest area is the Gemeindeberg (approx.  625  m ) which is one of the highest elevations in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district. Großholz and Falbenthal border in the south, Rohrach and Degersheim in the west, Oberweiler in the north and Markt Berolzheim in the east. The Berolzheim Forest is located directly on the 49th parallel.

Several forest and field paths run through the forest. The Buchleite nature reserve near Markt Berolzheim borders the forest . Parts of the forest are designated as a fauna-flora habitat and a landscape protection area.
