During a television interview in March 2005, Bert Karlsson signed an application for membership in the Folkpartiet liberalerna party . When the party criticized this step as a media show, he withdrew the motion.

In the autumn of 2006, Karlsson ran a talk show called Bert on the Swedish broadcaster TV 8. He had previously appeared in programs Du är vad du äter and Ett herrans liv . Karlsson was also one of the judges in the TV 4 show Talang 2007 , the Swedish version of America's Got Talent .
