Berthold Genzmer (born March 9, 1858 in Boggusch , Marienwerder district , † 1927 in Berlin ) was a German genre and landscape painter .

Life

Berthold Genzmer was the son of the manor owner Julius Genzmer (1821–1900) and Auguste Genzmer nee. Reschke (1829-1866). His brother was the town planner Ewald Genzmer (1856–1932). He began his painter training in 1876 in Wilhelm August Stryowski's studio in Danzig and continued it at the Royal Prussian Academy of the Arts in Berlin with Karl Gussow .

From 1887 to 1920 he was a member of the Berlin Artists Association and a member of the jury of the Great Berlin Art Exhibition . From 1883 he published his works in the " Gartenlaube ". From 1893 he took part in the Berlin art exhibition and from 1899 exhibited his works in the Munich Glass Palace . He was resident in the rural community of Groß-Lichterfelde .

His genre pictures were mostly dedicated to children, the landscape pictures represented views from northern Germany.
