Berthold Otto Havenstein
Berthold Otto Havenstein (* 1867 in Koblenz ; † July 22, 1945 in Coburg ), as mayor of the city of Oberhausen, played a key role in the amalgamation of the three communities of Osterfeld, Sterkrade and Oberhausen.
Life
Havenstein held the office of mayor of Oberhausen from August 18, 1906. In the dispute about the municipal reorganization in the Ruhr area of 1929, he set the course for the merger of the urban districts of Oberhausen an der Ruhr, Osterfeld and Sterkrade to form the new urban district of Oberhausen (Rhineland) and thus for the development of today's Oberhausen.
As of April 19, 1910, due to this development, he was appointed Lord Mayor. He was retired on February 2, 1930 .
On February 25, 1930, Havenstein was made an honorary citizen of the city of Oberhausen.
