Count Berthold von Bernstorff-Wehningen (born January 21, 1842 in Berlin , † February 12, 1917 in Höllwangen ) was a German manor owner and member of the Reichstag.

Life

Berthold von Bernstorff was a son of the Hanover district administrator and a member of the German Reichstag Bechtold von Bernstorff (1803–1890) and his wife Thekla Freiin von Bibra a. d. H. Irmelshausen (1810-1884). He attended the old grammar school in Oldenburg , the grammar school St. Augustin in Grimma and the Johanneum Lüneburg . He studied at the Grand Ducal Saxon Forestry School in Eisenach and the Georg-August University in Göttingen . In 1865 he was Konkneipant the Corps Bremensia Göttingen . He worked as a forester until after 1866 and completed an agricultural degree. In 1869 he took over the Gartow forest administration until 1883. From 1877 he was a member of the Central Committee of the Royal Agricultural Society in Hanover and since the introduction of the Chamber of Agriculture a member of the board. He was also President of the Lüneburger Provincial Association from 1883. In 1883 he took over his property in Wehningen and in 1892 he bought the island of Schiermonnikoog . He was a member of the Dannenberg and Bleckede district councils , as well as a district deputy until 1891. He was also a member of the Evangelical Lutheran regional synod since 1890 and landscape council of the Lüneburg knight and landscape, as well as a member of the royal state economics college and the German agricultural council .

From 1893 to 1907 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of the Province of Hanover 15 ( Lüchow , Uelzen , Dannenberg , Bleckede ) and the German-Hanover party .

From 1870 Berthold von Bernstorff was married to Charlotte Freiin von Wangenheim a. d. H. Burg-Wake (1851–1879) and in second marriage from 1887 to Alma Freiin von Wangenheim a. d. H. Sonneborn (1864-1927). The first marriage had the children Georg-Ernst August (* 1870), Marie Amalie (* 1872) and Charlotte Anna Luise (* 1879), the second marriage the sons Joachim Bechtold Walrab (* 1888) and Christian Andreas (* 1889).
