Bertram Triebel (* 1982 in Eisenach ) is a German historian .

Life and professional career

Triebel studied Medieval and Modern History, Political Science and Journalism at the Universities of Leipzig and Nancy from 2002 to 2009 . Subsequently, he was a doctoral candidate in the graduate school "History of the Freiberg Mining Academy in the 20th Century" at the Institute for Industrial Archeology, Science and Technology History of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg . In 2013 he was awarded a doctoral thesis by Helmuth Albrecht “The party and the university. A history of the SED at the Bergakademie Freiberg ”.

After completing an academic traineeship at the Leipzig Contemporary History Forum of the House of History Foundation , Triebel worked as a freelance historian.

Between 2016 and 2018 Triebel researched the history of the Thuringian CDU in the Soviet Zone / GDR. He worked on behalf of the “Independent Historical Commission on the History of the CDU in Thuringia and in the Erfurt, Suhl and Gera Districts from 1945 to 1990”, chaired by historians Jörg Ganzenmüller and Hermann Wentker . The commission presented its final report to the public in October 2018 on the basis of Triebel's findings.

In September 2019 Triebel's study was published under the title “The Thuringian CDU in the Soviet Zone / GDR - Block Party with Self-Interest”. Since 2019 Triebel has been a research assistant at the professorship for the comparison of European dictatorships at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . There he deals with the history of Thuringian colleges and universities between 1968 and 1990.
