Beru TOP 10

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Beru TOP 10 was a series of motorsport events from 1996 to 2007. In addition to some regular series, it also offered a platform for changing guest series. In 2006, for example, there were seven races on six different racetracks in the touring car and formula racing sectors . The highlight each year was the participation of the touring car series in the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring . The driving force behind the DTM was the second highest touring car class in Germany, the ADAC Procar series .

No separate TOP 10 event package has been carried out since the 2008 season. However, the individual racing series will be continued at various other motorsport events. The ADAC Masters Weekend launched by the ADAC in 2009 can be described as the legitimate successor to the Beru TOP 10.

meaning

Initially it was the DTC , which was represented in the Beru TOP 10 as the second highest German touring car league after the DTM . In 2003 it was replaced by the DMSB production car championship , from which the ADAC Procar series emerged in 2006 .

Competition mode

What the one-make cups had in common was the racing mode: an all-important training session, followed by two races, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. The timed practice decided on the starting grid for the first race, the second race was started according to the start of race one, although the first six lined up in reverse order.

Media presence

The media presence was different every year. Until 2004, the DSF , today Sport1 , reported regularly on the mixed races of professionals and amateurs, whereby a lot of time was spent on interviews and award ceremonies and the fight on the track was neglected. Regulations and technology were not mentioned. From 2005, after every race weekend, there was detailed reporting on Premiere and for individual racing series, such as the Ford Fiesta ST Cup and the Recaro Formula 3 Cup, also on n-tv .

In the trade press ( Motorsport aktuell ) all training and racing results were presented with a short text but a detailed table. Each racing series also had its own homepage, on which race reports, results, scores and picture galleries were published.
