Formula Volkswagen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Formula Volkswagen is the name of a brand formula that was developed in early 2000. But it never achieved the popularity of Formula Vee , the success of which it was supposed to build on.

Overview

Safety was the main focus at Formula Volkswagen. Like that of Formula 1 vehicles , the monocoque of the car is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic . In addition to the side impact protectors , the safety features include the long crash box , the safety struts in the wheel suspension and a roll bar . In the crash test carried out under the supervision of the FIA , Formula Volkswagen was able to withstand the Formula 3 safety requirements in all points. Volkswagen stopped the German racing series after three years.

The front wing of the Formula Volkswagen is just as adjustable as the rear wing. Furthermore, drivers and teams have the opportunity to make changes to the chassis and the gas pressure shock absorbers.

Under the hood of the revised Formula Volkswagen is an 187 hp (138 kW) two-liter engine. There is also a sequential five-speed racing transmission with interchangeable gear ratios.

The only remaining Formula Volkswagen championship is Formula Volkswagen South Africa , which has been held since 2008 .
