The Beskidenverein ( BV for short ; Polish: Towarzystwo Beskidzkie) was a mountain association of German-speaking city citizens in the West Beskids around the Duchy of Teschen in Silesia , which existed from 1893 to 1945 .

The Beskydy Association was founded in 1893 on the model of the Austrian Alpine Association in Friedek , but was relocated to Mährisch Ostrau and later to Teschen shortly after it was founded . The main activists were Karl Richter, a lawyer from Jihlava , and Johann Hadaszczok , a teacher from Friedek, both of whom lived in Mährisch Ostrau. The members were mainly German-speaking city citizens from Austrian Silesia , Northern Moravia and later from Upper Silesia and Wroclaw .
He was active in the Beskids in Silesia and Galicia , in particular the Silesian Beskids , Saybuscher Beskids and Little Beskids . Its most active section was located in the Bielsko-Biała language island (in 1909 the Bielsko section had 1,210 members, out of a total of 4,618 in the Beskid Society). He competed with the Polish Tatra Society (PTT) founded in 1873 .

In 1931 the Beskid Society joined the Federation of Polish Mountain Associations in Warsaw. After the invasion of Poland , the Beskid Society took over part of the property of the dissolved Polish Tatra Society. He stopped working in 1945. The newly founded PTTK took over its shelters in 1950 .
