Emergence

After his band Immortal broke up in the meantime , the singer and guitarist Abbath (bourgeois Olve Eikemo ) began writing new songs. In doing so, he drew on many ideas that were originally intended for Immortal. With the help of the guitarist Ice Dale (civil Arve Isdal ) the musicians worked on the material over a period of three years. As with Immortal, the texts come from Abbath's longtime companion Demonaz (real name Harald Nævdal).

Was added Between Two Worlds in Lydriket studio in Bergen . The album was produced by Ice Dale, mixing was done by Peter Tägtgren . The mastering took Thomer Eberger. With the song Far Beyond the Quiet the band died in 2004 pays Bathory founder Thomas "Quorthon" Forsberg tribute .

reception

For Gunnar Sauermann from Metal Hammer , Between Two Worlds is a "party disc for the tough faction that lets the turnip rotate non-stop". He gave the album six out of seven points. Götz Kühnemund from Rock Hard wrote in his review that the result of the album was “extremely atmospheric, sonically dense monumental works” that “still exude the old Norwegian Black Metal spirit, but at the same time have strong hard rock influences”. Kühnemund awarded nine out of ten points. The Rock Hard leads Between Two Worlds also in its list of "250 black metal albums, should know the man" on.

Jackie Smit from the online magazine Chronicles of Chaos described the album as a "nice stopover until the next Immortal album" and awarded 7.5 out of 10 points. Arlette Huguenin from the online magazine Vampster criticized the lack of “variety in terms of tempo” and described Between Two Worlds as a “well-played, but somewhat soulless work”.
