Abbath (born June 27, 1973 in Bergen ) is the pseudonym of the Norwegian musician Olve Eikemo . He is a member of the bands I and Immortal and previously played with Old Funeral, among others .

Career

Eikemo was one of the founding members of the death metal band Old Funeral in 1988 , which released two demos . Together with the guitarist Harald "Demonaz" Nævdal he founded the band Amputation, which also released two demos. In 1990 Eikemo, Nævdal, Jørn Inge Tunsberg and the drummer Armagedda founded the band Immortal, in which Eikemo first appeared as a singer and bassist . Abbath also played the drums on the albums Pure Holocaust and Battles in the North . After a Demonaz in 1997 tenosynovitis had gotten changed Abbath from bass to guitar. The albums Damned in Black and Sons of Northern Darkness were produced by Abbath.

In 2003 the band Immortal broke up. Abbath founded the Band I together with Armagedda, the Enslaved guitarist Arve Isdal and the then Gorgoroth bassist TC King , which released their only album Between Two Worlds in 2006. A year later, Immortal reformed. In addition to his main bands, Abbath appeared as a guest musician with the bands Dimmu Borgir , Enslaved and The Battalion . In addition, he plays in Motörhead - cover band Bömbers in which he the singer and bassist Lemmy mimes.

Abbath was married to Demonaz's sister and has a son with her.

In March 2015, Abbath announced that he was putting Immortal on hold and that future material would be released with a new cast under the Abbath name.
