I is a Norwegian heavy metal band from Bergen . The band was founded in 2005 and has so far released a studio album.

Band history

Two years after Immortal's temporary dissolution , Olve "Abbath" Eikemo founded together with former Immortal drummer Armagedda, guitarist Arve "Ice Dale" Isdal ( Enslaved , Audrey Horne ) and bassist Tom Cato "TC King" Visnes ( Sahg , Ex- Gorgoroth ) the band I. The music is written by Abbath, who uses a lot of riffs and ideas for I that in his opinion did not fit Immortal. The lyrics are written by the former Immortal guitarist Harald "Demonaz" Nævdal, who is not, however, an active musician in the band. Demonaz also suggested the band name I.

In April 2006 the band signed a contract with the German record company Nuclear Blast . On August 26, 2006 the band played their first and so far only concert as part of the Hole-in-the-Sky Festival in Bergen. The debut album Between Two Worlds was released on November 3rd, 2006 and received good reviews from the music press. With the song Far Beyond the Quiet the band died in 2004 pays Bathory founder Quorthon tribute . In 2007 Abbath reactivated the band Immortal. In an interview, however, he stated that he definitely wanted to make a second album I.

style

The music of I differs significantly from the music in which the musicians involved are otherwise active. I are mainly assigned to classic heavy metal. Abbath explained in an interview that the listener on I can hear the bands Abbath grew up with more clearly than on Immortal. As examples he named bands like Iron Maiden , Kiss , Venom and Bathory . In connection with the first song on the album The Storm I Ride , the band Motörhead is often mentioned as an influence. Also Metal Hammer -Redakteur Gunnar Sauermann compares the album Share with Motörhead and continues to influence of Bathory "from the Vikings phase" firmly.
