Between You and Me is a pop-punk band founded in 2016 in the Australian metropolis of Melbourne .
history
Guitarist Chris and drummer Jamey Bowerman had the idea of starting a rock band in 2016. In Jake Wilson, who was publishing vocal cover videos on Youtube at the time, the two found a lead singer for their band. Due to a wrist injury, Jamey Bowerman was unable to play the drums for a while. As a result, the musicians only played acoustic pieces at that time. In Jai Gibson and James Karagiozis, whose band Sidelines split shortly before, another guitarist and a bassist could be found.
In October 2016, Paper Thin, an EP with five tracks in digital format and as a physical sound carrier, was released.
The group toured with groups like Trash Boat , As It Is and With Confidence in their early days . In July 2017, the band was signed by the US independent label Hopeless Records . On July 13, 2018, Everything Is Temporary, the debut album was released via Hopeless Records.
The band will perform for the first time in the United States and Canada in October and November 2018 . This happens as part of the Hopeless Noise Co-Headlining Tour by Roam and Like Pacific .
style
Although the musicians have influences from various musical genres, the group's music is described as pop-punk , in which these influences are combined with each other. The music is reminiscent of the early works of All Time Low , as well as Mayday Parade and Yellowcard . The guitar playing and the lyrical theme in the piece I Can't Help It evoke comparisons to nothing, nowhere .
The vocals of Jake Wilson evokes similarities to Neck Deep in their Rain-in-July -time. The group works with genre-typical content such as poisoned interpersonal relationships, but the death of someone close to the musicians and mental health are also taken up as lyrical themes.
