Gopi

Gopi (real name: V. Gopinathan Nair ; born November 8, 1937 in Chirayankil , Travancore , † January 29, 2008 in Thiruvananthapuram , Kerala ) was an Indian stage and film actor and director .

Gopi initially worked exclusively as a stage actor before making his film debut in Swayamvaram under Adoor Gopalakrishnan in 1972. He also brought his stage experience into the role of the ringmaster in the film Thampu (1978). He played dramatic roles convincingly in Adaminte Variyellu (1983, with Mammootty and Suhasini ) and Aaghat (1985, with Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah ).

In 1979 he directed the film Njattadi for the first time. In addition to his film work, he always remained connected to the theater through directing and acting. It was partially paralyzed and less common since the late 1980s.
