Bhilai Charoda is a city in the district of Durg in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh .
It had around 98,008 inhabitants at the 2011 census. As of June 8, 2015, the city has the status of a municipal corporation and is divided into 40 wards.
The city borders Bhilai (also Bhilai Nagar ) to the west and is part of the Durg-Bhilai agglomeration with around one million inhabitants. Raipur is located 20 km east of Bhilai Charoda.
In 1955, India and what was then the Soviet Union signed an agreement to build the nearby steel mill. As a result, the population of the former village grew rapidly. The national highway NH 6 ( Durg - Raipur ) and the railway line between Durg and Raipur run through Bhilai Charoda .
