Ambikapur ( Hindi अम्बिकापुर) is a city ( Municipal Corporation ) in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh with about 112,500 inhabitants (2011 census).

It is the administrative seat of the Surguja district and was formerly the capital of the former princely state of Surguja .

The name is derived from the goddess Ambika (Mahamaya) Devi .
