The district of Surguja is a district of the Indian state of Chhattisgarh .
The administrative center is the city of Ambikapur . The district borders on the states of Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand . The northwestern part of the Surguja district was split off in August 2011 and now forms the newly established Surajpur district .
