Dhamtari is a city in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh .

Dhamtari had 89,860 inhabitants at the 2011 census. It is the capital of the district of the same name and has the status of a municipal corporation .

The city center is 4.5 km from the north bank of the Mahanadi . The national highway NH 43 leads from Dhamtari to Raipur, 60 km north-northeast .
