Białobrzegi [ bʲawɔˈbʒɛɟi ] is a city in the Masovian Voivodeship in Poland . It is the seat of the powiat Białobrzeski and the town-and-country municipality of the same name with 10,300 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2019).

The village was first mentioned in 1470 as Byalobrzegy. 1540 the town was granted the town charter by King Sigismund I and became part of Austria in 1775. In 1809 he became part of the Duchy of Warsaw and in 1815 Congress of Poland . In 1869 the place lost its town charter.

In September 1939 Białobrzegi was occupied by the German Wehrmacht. During the occupation, all of the town's Jews were either murdered or deported to the Treblinka extermination camp . East of the city, the military training area in the middle of the German Wehrmacht was built in 1940 . The Red Army reached the place on January 16, 1945 .

1958 the place got its town charter back. From 1956 to 1975 he was the seat of the powiat Białobrzeski in the Kielce Voivodeship . In 1999 Białobrzegi was again the capital of the powiat Białobrzeski.
