List of grape varieties

Biancolella is a white wine from Italy . It is mainly grown in Campania and Ischia , where the white wines made from it are among the best. It is used in the DOC wines Campi Flegrei , Capri , Costa d'Amalfi , Ischia and Penisola Sorrentina . It usually gives the white wines of Ischia their special character when blended with Forastera . In the 1990s, 609 hectares of vineyards were raised in Italy . On Corsica (→ Corsica wine ), the cultivation was abandoned, although near Bastia and San Martino di Lota quite appealing white wines were produced.

Another variant of Biancolella is known in Italy. The variety is called Biancolella selvatica and is distinguished by a deeper leaf and lower must weights .

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

  • The shoot tip is open.
  • The medium-sized leaves are three- to five-lobed and not very deep but broadly indented. The stem bay is open in a V-shape. The sheet is serrated. The teeth are very large compared to the grape varieties.
  • The cylindrical to conical grape is shouldered, small to medium-sized and has dense berries. The elongated berries are medium-sized and whitish to light yellow in color.

Maturity: The grape variety ripens about 30 days after the Gutedel and is therefore considered to ripen late.
