The Martell Valley biathlon center is a biathlon competition venue in South Tyrol in the area of the municipality of Martell .

The stadium is located at the upper end of the Martell Valley in Vinschgau in South Tyrol in the area of the municipality of Martell .
The facility is at an altitude of 1700 m , the lowest point of the trails is 1684 m , the highest at 1723 m .
Furnishing
In addition to the shooting range and cross-country trails, the biathlon center has a functional building and roller-skis . The IBU does not currently have an A license ; this is required in order to hold World Cup events . However, the equipment of the competition venues is sufficient to be able to host competitions as part of the IBU Cup .
There are no permanently installed grandstands in the stadium area, but a total of up to 2000 spectators can watch the races on site.
A network of cross-country trails with a total length of 12 km is connected to the stadium . The running laps specified by the regulations can be represented accordingly through different routes.
construction
Construction began in 2001. The current facilities were then built in several stages. The shooting range and large parts of the cross-country ski trails were completed by 2002; the first start-up took place when the first competitions were held in December 2002. The stadium was expanded in 2005 and 2006 to include a functional building, paved parking spaces and a snow-making system. In 2011, part of the trails was paved so that they can also be used in the summer months for training with roller skis . To date, around two million euros have been invested.
Events
Up to ten events are held in the Martell biathlon center each year. The highlights are competitions within the framework of the IBU Cup , the second highest competition in biathlon after the World Cup .
In addition to IBU Cups, four Italian championships (2004, 2005, 2008 and 2010), the 2007 Junior World Championships , the 2011 European Summer Biathlon Championships and several races within the Itapokal, the Alpencup and the German Cup have been organized.
