The Skistadion og Lysløyper is a venue for biathlon and cross-country skiing in Norway in the municipality of Øystre Slidre , but is named after the nearby winter sports resort of Beitostølen .

The stadium is located in the small winter sports resort of Beitostølen in the municipality of Øystre Slidre in Fylke Innlandet near the Jotunheimen Mountains .

The facility is located at an altitude of 820  m , the lowest point of the trails is 760  m , the highest at 830  m .

Furnishing

The stadium has an A license from the IBU , which is required to host biathlon world cups . All biathlon and cross-country skiing disciplines can be carried out on the 12.5 km long trails.

The shooting range has 30 shooting lanes suitable for the World Cup, the stadium is equipped with 34 permanent wax huts and functional buildings with a total area of ​​1600 m².

7.5 km of the trails can be covered with artificial snow so that you can train on snow before the onset of winter. In addition, there are 6.5 km of floodlit trails that go straight to the center of Beitostølen.

Some of the trails are paved so that they can be used for training and competitions during the summer.

Events

biathlon

So far, only one World Cup has been held in the ski stadium in the 2004/05 season . Beitostølen is currently a regular venue for races as part of the IBU Cup . Since the renovation, the opening competitions of the winter have often been held here.
