Location of Bichlbruck in Bavaria |
Bichlbruck is a hamlet and district of Piding in the Berchtesgadener Land district .
It is located about two kilometers northeast of Piding-Dorf, between the Freilassing – Berchtesgaden railway line and the Saalach .
history
As early as 908 there was a bridge in this area over the Saalach to Wals . The bridge was destroyed several times by floods, including in 1572 and 1598. During a flood in 1899, the bridge was torn away again and has not been rebuilt since then. A chapel today reminds of the former location.
In the 14th century, the transition was particularly important for the Reichenhaller salt transport.
As a rule, a toll was always charged for crossing the bridge. Since the Mautner also had land to cultivate, the bridge could not be constantly monitored; smugglers gladly took advantage of such opportunities.
After May 1, 1978, until then the community was Ainring belonging Bichl Bruck to Piding umgemeindet .
